Recently, I learned from the Secretariat of the China Graphene Standardization Committee (Taizhou Graphene Testing Platform) that the four draft graphene standards in 2015 have been completed, and they have successfully entered the stage of soliciting opinions and soliciting opinions from the public. The four drafts are: "Determination of potassium, sodium and manganese content in graphene by atomic absorption spectrophotometry", "Determination of manganese content in graphene oxide by potassium periodate spectrophotometer", "Analysis of non-metallic elements in graphene" ", "Double-photodetector test system to determine the optical saturation absorption method of graphene". Among them, "The Method of Determining the Optical Saturable Absorption of Graphene by the Dual Photodetector Test System" will be the first graphene optical performance testing standard in my country.
At present, with the continuous deepening of graphene research and development in China, the production and application of graphene has gradually entered the stage of industrialization. The establishment of my country's first graphene optical performance testing standard is an important symbol of graphene's gradual industrialization, which will promote the healthy and orderly development of China's graphene industry and lead the development of the graphene industry. Dr. Liang Zheng, Secretary General of China Graphene Standardization Committee and Executive Director of Taizhou Graphene Research and Testing Platform, introduced that the formulation of graphene optical performance testing standards is conducive to guiding the healthy development of graphene optoelectronics industry, and provides a large number of utilization standards for the industry. To develop the space for the industry, the standard is of great significance to promote the technical exchange, trade and application of graphene products.
This unique absorption property begins to saturate when the incoming light wave intensity exceeds a threshold. This nonlinear optical behavior is called saturable absorption, and the threshold is called saturation fluency. Given strong visible or near-infrared excitation, graphene can easily become saturated because of its bulk lightwave absorption and zero-energy gap properties. Graphene can be used for mode-locking operation of fiber lasers. A saturable absorber fabricated from graphene can achieve full-band mode locking. Due to this special property, graphene has a wide range of applications in ultrafast photonics.
