Information

Graphene, as a miracle material, has been hailed as the future of electronics. But now one of its "relatives", black phosphorus BP, has a low-cost manufacturing process and is expected to replace graphene as the next new material gold mine.

Phosphorus is the fifteenth element in the periodic table, with the element symbol P. Like graphene, black phosphorus is a new type of single-element two-dimensional atomic crystal material. Black phosphorus is the most stable one of the allotropes of phosphorus, with a graphite-like flake structure, and black phosphorus with a thickness of a single atomic layer is also called black phosphorene. It is formed by the conversion of white phosphorus at very high pressure and temperature.
Black phosphorus BP, which has been difficult to prepare but has promising applications in nanoelectronics, is very similar to the two-dimensional (single-atom-thick) wonder material, graphene.Like graphene, black phosphorus BP also has insurmountable difficulties in the preparation process. It has a multi-layer structure. In order to obtain the desired two-dimensional sheets, these layers need to be separated layer by layer through a lift-off process. Black phosphorus has a band gap, while graphene is a so-called zero-gap semiconductor. Black phosphorus, as a tunable semiconductor, may have more applications in electronic devices: transistors, sensors, solar cells, switches, battery electrodes, etc. Some of these applications have been tested and they work very well. Black phosphorus is indeed black and doesn't emit light like its allotrope, but it does disperse light very well, even better than graphene. Because of this, it is very suitable for application in the field of optoelectronics. The new star material is shining.
Relevant studies have shown that, compared with other two-dimensional crystal materials, two-dimensional black phosphorus single crystal materials are more stable and have great potential in nanoelectronic device applications, and are regarded as new super materials after graphene.
It is understood that in 2014, the research group of Professor Chen Xianhui of the National Laboratory of Microscale Material Science of the University of Science and Technology of China cooperated with the research group of Professor Zhang Yuanbo of Fudan University and successfully prepared a two-dimensional black phosphorus field effect transistor with a thickness of several nanometers. In March 2016, the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced that the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology had made new breakthroughs in the field of two-dimensional materials and prepared highly stable black phosphorus. Black phosphorus is expected to take a major step forward as a semiconductor material with this technology. Juna Group has provided high-quality black phosphorus crystal BP and stripping processes to many customers around the world. The excellent raw materials have promoted the publication of high-level articles and effectively promoted the development of scientific research and industry.
